Imbokodo take over Power FM

Posted by radio On August - 6 - 2017

A series of incredible women will take over Power airwaves from 7-9 August.

In celebration of Women’s Month, POWER 98.7 substitutes all male presenters for three days and replaces them with a #987Woman lineup.

Last year saw a list of the most influential women in South Africa take the reins, tackling some of the most pressing and delightful issues facing women today.

Some of the highlights from previous years of the initiative have seen listeners treated to the insight and thoughts of Thuli Madonsela, Naledi Pandor, Jenny Crwys-Williams, Tumi Morake, Felicia Mabuza-Suttle, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Lira, Phuti Mahanyele, Letta Mbulu, Karima Brown, Judy Dlamini, Khanyi Dhlomo, Rebecca Malope, Minnie Dlamini and Lindiwe Mazibuko to name a few.

#987Woman is an on-air platform accompanied by a live 360-degree stream for the duration of the feature.

POWER 987 Chairman Given Mkhari set Twitter ablaze when he announced a sneak peek of the guests set to make an appearance in the 2017 edition of #987Woman.

Some of these names include:

Hulisani Ravele: Presenter on CapricornFM

Dr. Makhosi Busisiwe Khoza: Member of Parliament serving as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration

Amanda Black: Singer-songwriter

Busisiwe Mkhwebane: Public Protector

Terry Volkwyn: Chief Executive Officer at Primedia Broadcasting

Ayanda Dlodlo: Minister of Communications of the Republic of South Africa since 30 March 2017

Funeka Montjane: Chief Executive, Personal and Business Banking, South Africa at Standard Bank Group

Lindiwe Sisulu: Minister of Human Settlements

Wendy Appelbaum: Owner and Chair of De Morgenzon Wine Estate in Stellenbosch

Wendy Luhabe: South African Entrepreneur

Wendy Lucas-Bull: Independent Director and Chairman of Barclays Africa Group

“We have an incredible lineup already and more exciting news to follow. As always we’re excited to have some of the most influential women on the most award winning radio station,” stated Mkhari during the on-air announcement.

More names and features will be announced as we build up to the highly anticipated event, but we’re sure to be in for another amazing year of #987Woman.
