From the 1st of September, Kaya FM presents Friday night mixes from much sought after international superstar Dj, Anané Vega. Anané brings to the Kaya airwaves Tribal House, Deep House and Afro Tech. She is a singer, songwriter, producer and a member of the Elements Of Life band led by her husband, Louie Vega.

Anané Vega was born in Cape Verde, an island off the Western coast of Africa. After some time in Portugal, her family relocated to the United States in search of a brighter future.

Her foray into djing wasn’t conventional, considering she never had the intention of becoming one.  However, a trip to the SubMercer, an intimate and exclusive lounge underneath Soho’s Mercer Hotel, turned into an offer to become a DJ for an upcoming gig. Anané’s career as a DJ had finally begun.

She blends all types of music to create a unique listening experience for her audience, by singing and dancing to the music she plays. Anané’s Selection has gained a large worldwide following.

“I love the ability to put all music together to a point where you can manipulate a party and get it going. You can interject any music and it’s not an awkward moment, you have the crowd in the palm of your hand. It’s not a shock, people will be grooving and want to know more about your music,” she explains

Anané would go on to accomplish a great number of feats in her career so far. These include singing the opening song “One Dream” at Super Bowl XLI, being personally invited by Cirque du Soleil to partake and performing at the President Obama’s Ambassadors Ball.

She is also extremely busy managing her music labels, Nulu Music and Nulu Electronic, which already boasts an impressive 50 album releases and is signing artists from all parts of Africa, the USA, and Europe. Her labels are extremely well regarded for bringing the afro and electronic sound to a wide audience.

“We are extremely excited and honored to have such a prestigious international artist as part of the line up at Kaya FM. She is going to thrill our Afropolitans with her beautifully curated sets,” says Nkosinathi “Nutty” Mbelu – Kaya FM’s Music Manager.

Be sure to tune into Kaya FM every Friday night from the 1 September for the Nulu Movement with Anané Vega. Your Friday nights will never be the same again.
