Primedia Group appoints Omar Essack as new CEO

Primedia Group, the owner of a broad portfolio of broadcasting, out-of-home and cinema and entertainment assets is pleased to announce the appointment of Omar Essack as its Chief Executive Officer to succeed outgoing CEO Roger Jardine, with effect from 1 April 2018. The appointment follows an extensive search process by the nominations committee, during which external and internal candidates were considered.

Mr. Essack has, to date, served as CEO of Primedia Broadcasting, the largest division within the Primedia Group, since January 2017. Since joining Primedia Broadcasting Mr. Essack has led the re-positioning of the groups’ radio assets with a new programming strategy and a strong focus on sales and creative solutions for clients. Mr Essack will oversee the growth of Primedia’s flagship brands which include radio stations like 702, 947, KFM and Ster Kinekor. Mr Essack joined Primedia Broadcasting from Kagiso Media where he was Deputy CEO and has a total of 28 years of media industry experience. Mr Essack will lead Primedia’s drive to provide world-class content and advertising channels, and continue to expand the business in and outside South Africa.
