SABC 1 Mzansi Fo Sho is excited to present its viewers a fresh and innovative content post Russia World Cup 2018. Come Monday, 16 July 2018, the channel‘s youthful audience will be treated to an exciting schedule offering comprising of cutting-edge brand new shows, new seasons and schedule movements meant to improve the channels’ competitive edge – with special focus placed on Sunday prime time viewing.

The Head of Channel at SABC 1, Clara Nzima comments: – “In line with our popular campaign of #SphetheEzishisayo, SABC 1 comes back from the adrenalin of the Russia World Cup 2018 with a bang. We will be introducing a slate of brand new shows, new seasons as well as revamped popular shows. We are very excited with our innovative Sunday drama slate and feel confident that the new offering is nothing like what the audiences have seen before. The channel is also upping the ante on the entertainment side with new shows, new presenters
and revamped popular titles. Kuzoba Lit Fo Sho!”

 

Viewers should look forward to compelling entertainment with the introduction of The Remix in the Sunday 18h00 timeslot, an adaptation of an international reality format in search of best Singer-Music-DJ/Producer team who can offer a complete new spin to favourite tracks. The show has assembled a solid team to lead and adjudicate the talent search process: – Rouge and Kgaugelo Makholwane as presenters and Mo Flava and Kelly Khumalo on the judging panel.

 

 

In view of Gospel being one of the biggest genres in the country, a brand new contemporary gospel music show, Gospel Unplugged will be introduced in the 17h30 Sunday early prime slot, with singing sensation Mmatema Moremi at the helm. New Seasons of viewer’s favourite shows will be revitalised to give the shows a fresh appeal: a new-look Live Amp returns to the screen on Friday, 20 July, at 19h30, with two new hip faces as presenters; – taking the premium music show to the next level of Friday night popular entertainment. To boost the channel’s Sunday prime time line-up SABC 1 will also introduce gripping mini- series strand dubbed – WOZA NAZO – in the 20h00 timeslot which will ensure that viewers are kept glued to their television sets. Opening with Emoyeni, a 4-part mini-series where the supernatural realm collides head-on with the ordinary – will kick-start this pioneering strand starting on Sunday, 22 July 2018.

 

 

In celebration of young female voices in the film industry SABC 1 has once again scheduled the Africa by Women Slate (now in its 3rd year) which will start airing on Sunday, 22 July at 19h30. The drama strand will feature individual Mzansi short stories written, produced and directed by female filmmakers, in partnership with the
National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF).

 

 

In line with SABC 1’s quest to heed the growing calls for inclusivity on national television, the channel will for the very first time in the history of television screen a local drama series called Ikani, in isiNdebele language. The drama series will start airing on Sunday, 30 September 2018 at 19h30. Verified, a brand new entertainment show featuring content-creators of hilarious on-line video clips is scheduled to screen from Friday, 28 September 2018 at 18h00 –
hosted by Nehemiah Tjatji.

 

 

On the international front the channel has acquired the rights to the popular street fashion reality format, Social Fabric, starting on Wednesday 18 July at 18h00. The award-winning drama series, Shuga Naija, which aims to improve young peoples’ sexual and reproductive health, will occupy the 19h30 timeslot from Wednesday, 18
July.
