Kaya FM, home of the Afropolitan, and Bassline Live once again welcome back the African legend Oliver Mtukudzi to perform at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City in the Kaya FM & Bassline Live Presents smash hit series.

After the sold-out success of Mtukudzi’s last show in the series on 31st August 2017, many fans were left disappointed at not getting tickets on time and the demand for a repeat performance has been overwhelming.

Booked for Saturday the 4th August, Mtukudzi will be returning this time with his full band, The Black Spirits.  He is set to wow fans with hit songs spanning his full career and performing songs from his 67th album released In February 2018, at the impressive age of 65 – more albums than years!

The fresh body of work, Hany’ga means ‘Concern’ when translated to English.  Much like all the previous albums, Mtukudzi has poured his heart out in words and music on this album and fans will no doubt get a chance to hear some of the new tracks, as well as old favourites.

A long-standing regular on Kaya FM airwaves, Mtukudzi is one of the most globally recognised cultural icons from our continent since beginning his musical career back in the late 1970’s.  With now a phenomenal 67 albums under his belt, Oliver also has a doctorate from two universities and is a recipient of some of the most prestigious human rights awards, including The International Council For Africana Womanism Award (ICAW), recognising his role in the upliftment of African women through his artistic work.

Oliver is also the head of an arts Academy called Pakare Paye Arts Centre that offers music and a diversity of art forms, platforming and building talent.

With his signature husky voice, he has earned a devoted following across Africa and beyond, and his performances in the South African territory are a rare and special treat for his fans.

Make sure you book tickets fast to catch this once-off performance.

Also on board once again for this event is stylish urban outfitters Brentwood Clothing, who are standing behind the rich arts and culture scene in SA through this musical series.  We are excited to continue growing this relationship with them.

Tickets are on sale now at Computicket from R250.
