Get ready Jazz lovers! Keenan Meyer is about to take the Mother City on a musical journey for one night only on the 20th March at the Youngblood Gallery. The 20th March will see a kaleidoscopic showcase of sounds which will feature self-composed debut works and stretch from Chopin to Winston Mankunku Ngozi, accompanied by a jazz ensemble.

His playing and writing style is informed by a strong background in Western Art music as well as the rich musical heritage of South African Jazz. Keenan’s passion for music has always been his drive and would love to share it with the rest of the world, him currently studying his masters in musicology can definitely attest to his passion for music.

Meyer is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar and has received numerous accolades for his work in the academic and music space.

The Youngblood Foundation, which won a BASA (Business and Arts South Africa) award, was created in January 2010. Youngblood is an arts & culture development that aims to be a platform for artists from all genres to start off from or to continue from in order to become self-sustainable.

Roger Jungblut (CEO of Youngblood), realized a need in the Arts and Culture sector in South Africa. The need for capital and exposure, through Youngblood these needs could be met. It remains his priority to support progress within that creative sector through Youngblood. This way, many promising artists are newly motivated: they are given the chance, and of course the means, to reach their full potential.

Keenan is thrilled to be performing in Cape Town with some of his favorite musicians on the eve of Human Rights Day.

Tickets are available at www.webtickets.co.za for R100 and R120 at the door.
