20th March, Superstar Rapper, Singer/songwriter and mental health advocate J Molley has released a brand new video for Lightning off his second EP Leader of the Wave. The EP follows the massive internet success of his debut Dreams Money Can Buy which was released in 2017.

‘Dreams Money Can Buy’ earned J Molley, whose real name is Jesse Mollett, a 20 year-old Johannesburg-born and Pretoria-bred exquisite talent, a top 3 spot in its three days of release.

Barely two years in the industry, J Molley’s star is shining so bright that his peers have been paying attention to every single thing he does. With over 1.3 million listens on Soundcloud, and over 1.5 million streams on paid platforms in just one and a half years, J Molley is emerging as one of the best to watch.

Lightning is one of the singles from Leader of the Wave EP and its video is one work of art. Shot in Cape Town, J Molley plays with subtle, dark tones and has fully dressed girls!!! How refreshing for a Hip Hop video!

“The album is very thought provoking, it’s from conversations in my head which were mostly negative, from some negative experiences which have ultimately made me a better person. It’s the rawest form of my thoughts and what goes on in my head. My music is my truth and nothing makes one lonelier than the secrets we keep, I make it a point that in my music, I let it all out.

Dark, sinister, futuristic, flashing lights, expensive, cold and new wave are definitely all the words to describe not just the album but the Lightning music video.

J Molley is signed to Never Broke a company he co-owns. He is not only a talented independent artist, he also edits all his music videos and images. His success is his own hard work with no co-signs from other artists. He has however lent his voice on other artists’ songs, the likes of Stogie T, Kwesta and DJ Speedsta.
