Posted by radio On September - 20 - 2019

GHANA’S KYEKYEKU HEADLINES THE JAZZY JOBURG MARKET – THE PERFECT STARTING LINE UP TO THE STANDARD BANK JOY OF JAZZ!

The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz – in partnership with Joburg Tourism and the Nelson Mandela Square – has created an outstanding opportunity for developing artists to share their music and talents at a fun-filled Jazzy Joburg Market to take place at the Square in Sandton from the 27th-29th September 2019.

The three-day musical market was started in 2018 with the likes of Nelisiwe Sibiya, Aus Tebza, Sobantwana, Zano, Vuyo Tyolo and the Dutch band – The New York Round Midnight Band and an official opening by the Executive Mayor Mr Herman Mashaba.

This year Ghanaian artist Kyekyeku, Koh Mr Saxman and the Standard Bank Youth Jazz Band will be entertaining the crowds. Former Gold Fish lead singer Sakhile Moleshe will be MCing the three-day event. Developing bands such as Afrida Marimba, Y U Asking Me and Afrika Jazz Band will be taking on the first day(Friday).

The Saturday will be P.A Band, Ark of Arts Band with the last being the Standard Bank National Youth Jazz band.

Sunday’s performers are Tokolo Jazz Band, followed by Thai artist Koh Saxman and Alexander Beets from the Netherlands with Ghana’s finest, Kyekyeku being the last.

Joburg Tourism will be utilizing The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz to partner with SMMEs for the second edition of the Jazzy Joburg Market. This is where the market comes together with jazz to give visitors a great welcome to Joburg – reinforcing Joburg Tourism’s #Welcome2Jozi campaign which aims to emphasize the city’s positioning that it is more than a stopover destination and that there’s more to it.

The market will be open from 15h30 to 20h00 (Friday and Saturday), while on Sunday the market is open from 10h00 until 17h00 at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. The Jazzy Joburg Night Market is the daily build-up to the main Joy of Jazz Festival taking place at the Sandton Convention Centre – with food stalls, arts and crafts exhibitors and all the trimmings to be expected from a night market in a creative space; an outstanding opportunity for developing artists to share their music and talents at a fun-filled night market.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the Jazzy Joburg Night Market with our partners, – what a way to showcase our diversity, musicality, talent, art and food!” says Festival Producer and General Manager of T Musicman, Ms Mantwa Chinoamadi.

“We want a fun way to ease music lovers into the main Jazz festival, while still enticing those that are indecisive about buying their festival tickets. The artists we have on the lineup are all accomplished, dynamic performers who we are determined to build relations with for future shows. We encourage everyone to come and have a good time at the market; it’s a friendly, welcoming environment for all.”
