Series on Showmax were the big winners in the TV category at last night’s Golden Globes, taking home five of the 11 awards given, more than any other streaming service in Africa. In contrast, Prime Video took home Best Comedy (Fleabag) and Best Musical or Comedy Actress (Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Netflix won Best Drama Actress (The Crown’s Olivia Colman) and The Act on DStv Now won Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette.

 

 

SUCCESSION S2 (HBO)

Storyline: Four very rich siblings behave very badly as they try to win their father’s approval – and control of his company, a global media empire

Storyline: Ramy Hassan (stand-up comedian Ramy Youssef) is a first generation Egyptian-American in politically-divided New Jersey, where he’s caught between a Muslim community that thinks life is a moral test and a millennial generation that thinks life has no consequences.
