C4U takes over Kagiso

Posted by radio On April - 30 - 2015 ADD COMMENTS

The prospect of a career choice is an issue that touches every young learner, organization, community and our economy profoundly. As is, the majority of our learners spend more time deciding what cars, phone, and clothes to buy than choosing a career. Could this be that career decision making is hard work or that our learners have difficult time accessing information about tertiary studies and career options available?

If our learners make informed choices they are less likely to experience some of the consequences of poor choices or ineffective career guidance such as tertiary institutions drop out, late tertiary applications, unemployable youth market, completing a degree that one has no interest in, indecisive labour force market or unhappy workforce.

In order to help facilitate our young learners’ transition to tertiary and to the working world, Careers For A Powerful You Pty Ltd (C4U) has, since the beginning of the year, embarked on a journey throughout townships and rural areas in South Africa and now going to Kagiso in the Gauteng province to create a platform where our young learners access resources, opportunities, and sound advice from professionals to unlock their full potential and make informed decisions about their career path.

For our young learners – the Career expo is a platform to meet and interact with a wide variety of organizations in one location, in one day. This interaction allows them to tap into opportunities available within these organizations. Also, it is a platform where learners are proactive and search for solutions with regard to careers and challenges they currently face.

Our core focus is to encourage innovation and creativity and produce sustainable development within our economy and community. We have identified the following as challenges that lie ahead for our learners: admissions, financial aid, earning extra income, opportunity identification, unemployment, how to start up a business, sound advice and questions about their future.

For our exhibitors – the career expo is a vibrant and revitalized platform for the public and the private sectors to profile themselves as employers of choice. This is an opportunity to meet with learners from various schools in and around Kagiso. It also presents an unmatched opportunity for talent finders to promote their organisations and compete for the best available pool of talent and connect directly with potential employees, bursary recipients, provide employment and career information.

C4U is a member of the Shanduka Black Umbrellas programme which is an initiative to support and mentor black entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses. As a mobile career consulting firm, we specialize in career development within township and rural areas. This is done through educational and career events, publications and CSI

Projects. Our mission is to empower our ‘future leaders’ in rural and township areas and to ensure equal access of information and resources. We connect young learners with educators, marketers, companies and mentors to create quality career and learning exposure.

Forbes Africa & Dj Sbu resolve their differences

Posted by radio On March - 26 - 2015 ADD COMMENTS

On the 23rd of March 2015 Forbes Africa released a press statement informing the general public of a false Forbes Africa cover featuring Sbusiso Leope. The pending issue of trademark infringement and misrepresentation between Forbes Africa and Mr. Sbusiso Leope has attained closure, and has been resolved amicably.

The image of Mr. Sbusiso Leope’s with the beverage MoFaya on the Forbes Africa cover (the ‘Image’) contains the unauthorized use of our trademark, brand name and logo. Further, the endorsement of the Image on social media, by posting and retweeting said image, contains no disclaimers and has created much confusion amongst our readers.

While, Mr. Leope admits that he did not create the Image, our fundamental contention is the Image endorsed by him on social media is the unlicensed use of Forbes Africa’s exclusive intellectual property rights. Further, the Image is misleading and represents an affiliation that does not exist and has not been approved by Forbes Africa.

Mr. Leope has duly acknowledged our concerns and has agreed to take down the Image from his social media networks. It is also important to note that Mr Leope has made it clear that it was not his intention to mislead our readers.

We seek to state that our intentions are purely to safeguard the Forbes Africa trademark and brand name, and protect our readers from being misled by the ‘Image.’ Mr. Leope’s spirit of entrepreneurship has been featured in USA, and we duly acknowledge that. The matter is resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

Posted by radio On March - 20 - 2015 ADD COMMENTS

By the end of the month, Times Media will have a brand new news wire service. The news wire will serve online products and newspapers and address the growing demand for independent and reliable news.

The product offers minute by minute news coverage under the brand of Rand Daily Mail (RDM) News Wire. The company’s print section will provide copy for the wire and will cover news from business to sport and politics.

Ray Hartley, former Sunday Times editor, will be taking on the management of the wire service while Juliette Saunders and Dominic Mahlangu will act as editors. With a reputable editorial and management team, the RDM News Wire is set for success.

Mike Robertson, Times Media MD, said, “Over the past three years we have grown TMG into SA’s biggest publisher of English-language daily and weekly newspapers. Despite spending only a fraction of what our competitors have done we have clearly established ourselves as the no2 in the online market and are confident of soon becoming number one. All of this is based on the quality and independence of our journalism which will now also be accessible via the RDM News Wire.”

“We have a very strong tradition of breaking news accurately and independently in our print titles and, more recently, on our online platforms such as timeslive and bdlive. We want to build on this strength with the news wire which will hold itself to high standards of journalism,” said Rand Daily Mail editor, Ray Hartley.

“We are going to get our top journalists involved and supplement this with a team of reporters who will chase the news,” concluded Hartley.
