Metro FM wins Coolest Radio Station Award

Posted by radio On May - 28 - 2015

Metro FM has again for the 3rd consecutive year retained its number one position as the Coolest Radio Station.

metronextThis was an award that was presented by the Sunday Times Generation Next youth awards which gathers the opinions and attitudes of young people to determine which brands they think are the coolest. The 11th Generation Next Awards were held on Friday, 8 May at the Sandton Convention centre and attracted marketers and different brands.

“The team at Metro FM is enlivened and inspired. This is validation that the hard work we put in continues to inspire. Being voted The Coolest Radio Station by consumers of the brand, three years in a row is just confirmation that Metro FM is still a mighty station on top of its game.  We do not take it for granted that in this tight and ever changing competitive environment, our listeners still make us number one,” said Sibongile Mtyali, Metro FM Station Manager.

Metro FM has plans to preserve this position for 2016 and this will become evident through its marketing and programming plans for this current year. The station has introduced a bold and vibrant new on air line-up that will realise an increase in listenership and will be visible to the country through a roll out of billboards and print advertisements nationally. In line with these on air changes Metro FM will introduce a new brand campaign that will talk to the aspirational, ambitious and progressive South Africans. These are some of the changes at the station that will see Metro FM walk away with this award for years to come.
